Would you be shocked if you met my mother?

My boyfriend of 4 months will get to meet my parents this Saturday for the first time. Apparently, I can pass like an average white woman with dirty blonde hair and hazel/honey eyes. My dad is white like me too. On a regular physical check-up, I was once classified as Caucasian.

However, once he meets my mother he might find it hard to believe she's my mother. She is indeed my bio mother. She's my polar opposite in skin tone. Technically that would make me biracial. Yup, I came from the belly of a dark-skinned lady.

Would you be shocked if you met my mother?

Yea but I wouldn't have a problem with it, it would be interesting genetically tho

My mother herself was surprised when I was born. Even though my father is white, she still wanted to know why I came out white like him and not a mixed tone or darker. Doctors ran the studies. To her shocked, she carried white, recessive genes herself from white ancestors, former slave owners.

Those that met my parents and family members actually commented that facially and my looks actually do resemble my mother. Someone told me once I'm my mother in the white version.

"Shocked" seems a bit extreme, "sensibly surprised" is what I would equate it to.

Genes are wild. It turns out mom still has white recessive genes, going all the way back to slave owners.

yeah but to some people that have no idea how recessive genes work out, that can be confusing. Someone once really thought she was my nanny.

Well it's not a problem but can be a surprise to others. Even with her dark skin, dark brown eyes and black hair (dominant traits) she still conceive me, a white baby with dirty blonde hair, not even a mixed tone but just like dad's color. Even mom was surprised at the time and wanted to know how that was still possible. Her still had European make-up in her genes.
Amazing isn't it? Several other African Americans can still have European ancestry.
