Is it disrespectful to ghost a friend to end a friendship?

Is it disrespectful to ghost a friend when you're not feeling the friendship anymore? What if they were toxic or abusive? What if they weren't toxic but you just grew apart? Is it better to ghost someone or send them a message? Under what conditions is it okay to ghost someone, and have you ghosted a friend or been ghosted by a friend?

if it's so toxic that your mental health is being compromised, then maybe ghosting or slowly phasing out is the best step. but i do think you should tell them why you are discontinuing the relationship

There is no reason to ghost a friend. If you want to stop reaching out or be unavailable that’s one thing but ghosting is kind of messed up
