My aunt thinks my friend *Glen;* keeps talking about his friend, mutual acquaintance *Ted;* and telling me stuff to try to show how witty, good natured and sensible Ted is, in an attempt of playing matchmaker for the two of us and because Ted has expressed an interest in me to Glen.

Oh, yeah, men do that sort of thing all the time. We're too timid to approach you ourselves, so we instead tell someone else -- hopefully no more than one person -- that we're interested in you, and they then in turn have to perform the task of breaking the news to you, because we're afraid to.. lol

I'm not necessarily saying that's what this guy did in this particular case, but the scenario I described above is a general method for nervous guys to get our message across. I've done it.

Many of us are just big babies... lol. I remember when I was in 7th grade, and I had a pretty good crush on a girl who was in several of classes. So... did I go over to her and introduce myself, and try to get to know her? Oh, no, no... instead, I told two or three other students that I liked her, and within an hour, it was all over the school -- and she *still* had no clue as to what was going on... yeah, just a brilliant strategy, let me tell you... lol

Again, I don't know whether this Glen gentleman was engaging in the kind of tomfoolery that made a caricature of me in the 7th grade, but the exact details and minutiae of the situation are largely unimportant, it sounds as though the general script was fairly similar.

I know what mean and the fear that I think we must overcome is rejection if they don't feel same, as you said why in some cases we rely on the middleman to without acknowledging it openly pass our intentions and get a feel for how the other person feel without a face to face, as I say life is simple why must we complicate it as we often do, lol

If he is doing as you say it's obvious that's his motivation yes, so listen to your aunt when she tries to pass down some wisdom of insight your way, now the question is, what are you going to do accept or reject his friend!
