What's your way of dealing with grief?
How do you deal with pain?
There are different ways to deal with it. When I was a teenager, a guy I liked for over a year asked me out and then changed his mind and went out with another girl. I dealt with it by taking naps during the day for a week or two and that minimized my depression to the point where I was happy again. Another thing that I used to cope is I would do loving kindness meditation or I would collect videos of loving animals. This is half religious and half not, just celebrate the idea of universal love. That motivated me when I was bored and weary during the pandemic due to rising prices and less opportunities to socialize after leaving work and school and pursuing my own business. Another thing that can help you cope, is religious activity and I've heard praying for others can dry up your own sorrows too. There are also people who exercise. And sometimes crying itself will get the sorrow to heal itself too. I've also read books where depressed people would do acts of service or charity for the world to cope with grief and that gave me a newfound purpose. In the Jewish bible, a man coped with the death of his mother through his marriage to a woman that consoled him over the loss of his parent when she died. When I'm sick, I go online to listen to jokes cause I believe the chemical changes that happen in my body when I'm laughing, help me heal faster. Chamomile tea is also a legal and non addictive way too boost your mood and it's very cheap on amazon.
Those are all great options to try.
Sleep works for me too and so does meditation.
Being an atheist never tried anything religious so don't know about it.
Exercise helps to vent your frustration.
Never been much of a cryer, but laughing helps although it is difficult to laugh when the grief inside you is too much.
Tea sounds good though.
Yes. Loving kindness is basically you think of something cute such as a dog or a baby or a positive idea like the frequency of elephant births or anything else that gives you joy. An example is I collected photos of parrots from a zoo my cousin visited and to keep myself happy, I remember there are millions of cute animals in the wild that are celebrating life.
Refocus - writing or reading
Physical exhaustion - I run until I'm not able to make another step. It leaves my brain beautifully empty...
