Well, my girlfriend and I are living together and we're doing well, we started dating 5 years ago, we love each other more than ever and our careers are doing great.
We started thinking about having a child, we've discussed everything, budgets, our careers, education, time, etc and we've come to the conclusion that we want to have a baby and feel ourselves ready for it, so my girlfriend will go off birth control so we can start trying. We live relatively close to her parents and she wanted to tell them all of this, but I was a bit afraid that they didn't react well.
We went to their house for Christmas and suddenly my girlfriend starts telling them all our plans and that we'll start trying to get pregnant. I was feeling cold because I thought we would them around mid January, but she went ahead.
Anyways, when my girlfriend told them everything, to my surprise they were delighted and really happy, they both congratulated us, but the happiest was definitely her father, he said he can't wait to see a life growing inside her beloved daughter and to have a grandchild.
This would bring them the first grandchild into their family, as my girlfriend is the eldest of their children, they're 3 daughters, my girlfriend is 25 and the other two are 22 and 17.
The reaction from them really took me off guard, I didn't expect them to react in such a positive way. Have you ever faced a similar situation?

You should be happy... lol :D
Happy parents are happy for their children.
My son is in the stable long-term relationship and I'm looking forward for such positive news. I don't wait for grandchildren, I'm not sure I'm ready to be called grandma yet... lol. For me it's just a non verbal signal, they are really happy, if they are ready for a child.
But do you think the reaction from my in laws is a good sign?
Don't you think asking your girlfriend would give you the best possible answer? She knows her parents better than any of us.
I would react the same way and it would definitely be a good sign lol
