I don't recall my father ever spanking me nor my brother, are men like him rare?

My mother was originally in favor of spanking in certain occasions but he made her change those views. So she came to liking his views, adapting to it and never spanked either.

If I went far, it was either disappointment look on his face, withdrawal or attention, a stern voice (not yelling but clear enough to see he was serious) or my whole name getting called out. They treated my older 32 year-old brother the same way too; he never got spanked either.

Usually the man is always depicted as the one always in favor of spanking and the mother pleading him not to do it. My father hated (and still hates it when people do it) anything that had to do with hitting a child. Are men like him rare?
