What do you guys think?

In the second term of the 2nd year at University, Mum says the course I’m currently doing (music-related) is pretty much useless. Almost no useful effect to humanity whatsoever. She thinks I only chose it because it was an easy course to do. The real reason I chose it was because not only it’s my passion but it is because there is a strong part of me that truly believes it will have more of a huge impact to people in the future. So to hear my own mum say this kind was a pretty huge punch-to-the-gut because then I’m left feeling misunderstood. She thinks I chose it just for the fun of it when really through my passion I want to be able to use the knowledge I have, the ability I have to not only be successful but to also help people along the way. But whenever she says this I don’t talk back because I never wanted to start arguments and I knew my mum was currently undergoing stress from her university experience so considering that I just didn’t say anything. Any advice? Thoughts?

Think from your Mom perspective, in life the reality is you need money to survive, so persue a course which would make you financially independent along side by side continue following your passion

And let over a period of time , your talent will come out and you will get more clarity

Music passion won't make you a rockstar Or superstar hence not much earnings and so not much of a future that what probably your mom is trying to explain you.

What's your probable (not ideal, probable) salary post graduation, and how does that relate to the amount of student debt if any you'll have?

Carry on with what you are doing. It is a lot more than the subject content. It is the fact you can chose a subject, and stick with it to the end. You have proved your worth.

My opinion is that it is a bit useless. But it’s fine, people get jobs with useless degrees, or no degrees.
