Me and my family will be moving off the grid in 2 months for my business and the fact I enjoy being out in nature for belief wise.. ny family somewhat knows because I've mentioned this and they have a problem with the fact their not going to be included in ny new life and able to snoop in my business while off the grid..

How to set some strong boundaries with my family? I don't need them included in my new life with my partner and I? They support my housing choice, the fact I'm lesbian, and any choices I make... I want them to go on with their life and let me live my life

Please don't ask me what the question is if you have read the post- not gonna respond and meant to say they don't respect my life choices and kids are involved so this may get legal due to my kids and they have a problem moving on with their lives - it's very toxic what their doing

I believe the only boundary to set is saying you don't want them inccluded in your own life, with the reasons why you want that. Can't they respect that? block them everywhere and make sure they won't know where you will be moving. Otherwise when they still manage to stalk you, contact authorities for a no-contact or region-ban. No idea how these are called in English. But I mean a rule they are not allowed to contact you or go near your house/work.

My concern because they do this every time instead of moving on with their lives... the arguments and bickering start when they know the housing plans are rolling

Honestly. That will keep happening till you're finaly moved off-grid. its most likely only a dumb attempt to persuate you from not moving away.

But to understand the situation. You and your partner have kids right? Are the kids the ones having a problem with the moving or are your fammilymembers (parents, aunt, uncle etc) the ones having the problem?

From ehat I understand that can attempt to get legal custody for the kids but a judge would have to sign of on considering u a unfit parent which I don't see happening unless their is info we don't know either way it sounds like u will be fine

Yeah still gotta look at laws and now that don't apply to me... unfit parents when you deal with toxic people this is the reality when their not included and create drama and unnecessary stress - I'll be glad when we're off the grid and at peace

Simply don't engage.

Word of advice about life, in general:
Never formally set an annunciated boundary because such boundaries are explicit and any explicit boundary is one that, at an instinctive level, some people will challenge.
In a sense, this advice falls under a broader adage of advice that males instinctively know about which is: Never give away information about yourself.

When you set a boundary, you are letting others know what you will tolerate or not. But it also implicitly tells them things you may not want them to know or piss them off unnecessarily.
I know I am being abstract, but real-world examples that I would give are more concrete but not well-connected to your situation.

Suffice it to say, they really don't need to know anything. Every relationship involves two people to make it work so the moment one withdraws, that relationship begins to fray a bit. So, by you not engaging with them and keeping some distance, they will gradually unconsciously learn the new normal of not being so intrusive or opinionated about your life. Put another way, less meddling and more "live and let live".
