As a child, were you ever physically disciplined by someone BESIDES your parents?

One of my friends had very very strict parents, when we had a sleepover we snuck outside after bedtime, and when they caught us they spanked us BOTH and locked us in my friend's room until morning.

My parents were upset about that and didn't let me go to sleepovers there again. Weird thing was they were okay with the spanking, but thought that locking us in a room overnight was going too far because it could be dangerous if something happened like an injury or a fire. 🤷‍♀️ Go figure.

When I was about four years old, I did something (if I ever knew what it was, I've long forgotten) that upset my father, who decided to spank me. It wasn't a capricious thing on his part; he disliked violence, but I didn't appreciate that at the time (since, you know, I was four).

He flung me over his knee and spanked me, and it was painful and humiliating. But I remembered what I'd been taught about bullies, and what Mom had said the last time my sister had hit me, and as he drew his hand back again, I balled my fist up, slammed into the side of his knee, and shouted "NO! Use your words!". Well, he wasn't going to take that, so he hit me again, and I wasn't going to take that, so again, I hit back and said "NO! Use your words!".

We probably only went back and forth four or five times, but it felt like forever. He eventually realized, though, that either he was going to back down or beat me unconscious- as the oldest sibling, HE never understood the importance of not backing down to someone who's stronger than you- and he relented. He never said anything about it, but I think I won some real respect from him that day.

That's why I'm very, VERY glad that no other adult ever tried anything; I've been a little brother for as long as I've been anything, and as a little brother you learn the importance of hitting back.

Yes, one of our neighbors, a divorced woman who had gone to school with my mom, complained to her that I'd been rude to her, and my mom told her that the next time I was impolite to her, for her to feel free to haul me into her house, take my pants down and tan my hide to her satisfaction, and that's exactly what she did, seven or eight times altogether.

My aunt spanked me when I was 9 my parents were upset. They told her it's their job to spank me not her..

Only by other family members that had permission to do so. You parents should have been upset.

When I was a kid it was common for teachers to discipline kids. I even got a rat tan once.
