Have you ever felt like you or someone you love got a second chance in life?

My dad wound up on life support earlier this week. Details spared, we thought we very well might lose him. I was already starting the grieving process and preparing to say my goodbye. Thankfully he has started breathing on his own and things are looking up.

It’s so weird though to have already started to let go inside and then suddenly realizing he’s not leaving is a feeling like no other.

From the day we are born to the day we take our first footsteps & beyond we take chances & taking chances are a part of life & sometimes in our last moments in life some of us are given second chances as well. Life is a gift & life goes quick & all I can say is that we should treasure our time & treasure others as well because who knows what tomorrow will bring. As for your father it saddens me to hear about him being on life support earlier in the week & I’m happy to hear he started breathing & things are looking up. As for each as well as everyone our time will come but in the meantime all I can say is the simplest thing of them all. Live you life & don’t let life live you.

Actually, yes. Similar situation with the last week here for me. My uncle got into a plane crash and was in the ICU for over four days. Doctors said it was a miracle given the circumstances that he even survived the crash, much less looks like he will be able to walk despite surgeries and scans saying he would be a paraplegic.

I am like a cat in terms of second chances, in this case nine lives. I have cheated death about five times so far in life and have been fortunate enough to still be alive.

That happened to my dad a few years back. It gave us the chance to reconnect and mend some broken wounds.

I'm glad your father made it.

Well, I tried to do something really stupid once, but the belt gave up so I fell and just got a concussion. Ever since I made sure to appreciate life every day even when things aren't going well.

Myself at least a few times. I made my pickup do 5 1/2 cartwheels at 95 breaking my legs and arms while ripping half my face off. GOD. 33
Then I took a gun from a guy and it went off. The bullit struck by right cheek. I was 23 on that one. GOD.
After turning 15 I was out hunting and got shot with a shotgun. My hand took all the pellets instead of my face. So again I thank God.

One time I was working on pretty high electric. I was told by my boss before he left the site that power was off. Stupid me, I didn't check. I got hit with the power. It threw me off a 6' ladder and across the hall. I couldn't move for like 20-30 minutes. I was very lucky, if it held me instead of throwing me off the ladder it would have killed me.

Three months in a coma on a ventilator with Covid in 2020. Actually needed CPR for 4 hours.

Lost my leg, but having been drowning in my own body fluids before I was taken to ICU and not expecting to survive that was minor.
