Take it for what it's worth. People seek but do not find because they are looking down, not up.

Unfortunately we don't get to pick our parents, we are stuck with whoever made us, but parents are not the only people who can care about you.

Try to redirect that desire to be loved toward making friends and/or finding a relationship. Just don't treat them like they're your dad. (this is of course assuming your gag age of 29 is accurate).
