mainly, we still don't have enough knowledge about our own genome to "design" people. We rarely properly sequence bacteria's genomes and ours is a billion times more complicated

I support the development of science; it's needed. But I don't worry about pure SF. It will be possible in the distant future, but not now.

My brother grew up with some kid who the dad had fucked up sperm or something so they did some kind of procedure where they splice together a bunch of DNA to ensure a healthy child. Apparently they asked them stuff like what kind of build the parents wanted, hair color and stuff.

The little shit got a full football scholarship into a good college.

Seemed like a pretty normal kid to me. Not that I had much exposure to him.

Humans was already doing it to a limited amount with selective breeding AKA eugenics, so I don't mind it, taking away a person's autonomy? we don't choose what body with born with anyway, and it's better than plastic surgeries, because it's more real.

It depends how it's 'used' it's a great achievement for those who for health reasons can't conceive the natural way. But I do not agree when women especially celebrities refuse to carry their baby because they want to look a certain way I think that's just selfish.

There is an old saying. It is not nice to fool with mother nature. We all know how these things work we plod along blindly and with luck TILL Someone mixes the wrong genetics and it is the end of mankind. Although it just might be an improvement compared to what is here now! LOL!

I'm not with or against as long as the pregnancy process is natural done between a husband and his wife...

I do prefer the natural way but if they can make the baby more immune to viruses and diseases than why not? It's something positive for humanity and the baby is still made naturally the way god had wanted it...

Yes. If we have the option to make a kid more healthy, more intelligent, more pretty/handsome etc then its a disservice not to do it.

Initially its a service for rich people but later on prices will go down and it will become affordable for the middle class.

As a scientist I can say that it could be hugely beneficial however it can also lead to extreme issues. I am not against it provided we can ensure safety for all involved

I support couples that wanted to minimize the risk of their children having to suffer from diseases. But I would not support people that want to design their children, that seems very wrong.

I believe the whole idea of it is evil, we were designed imperfect for a reason and to mess with that by trying to perfect it sounds like a dangerous road.
