I'm only guilty of not standing up against racists (but I'm not a racist), why all the anger against me?

I feel like I'm stuck. I'm somewhat popular at school and this crowd hates those from the Middle East and Mexicans too. Those are the main groups they hate. They don't like other groups either.

I've befriended a classmate from India and twin girls from Guatemala. My social reunions with them were done in secret though. If the group finds out I'm done and likely no longer in the group. Yet, they're upset at this moment and now it's also their family that doesn't want to welcome me anymore. They think I'm either just as bad or worse than the group. Why?

I'm not the one with the hatred towards races, I don't throw insults (I just remain silent when the group does it) and do what they do. Why all the anger against me?
