Why do people throw away friends they've had for years over 1 fight?

Because from an outside view it might be just “one fight”. But inside, it’s years of things going wrong, things that have piled up over time. Last year I let go of a 4 year friendship and it wasn’t because of one thing. It was multiple things that piled up, and all it took was one small thing to tip that pile over.

I don't know, but if you've apologized (if you were in the wrong) and or made it clear that you want to fix things, just let it go.
the sooner you move on, the sooner you can get over it and have them largely out of your mind.
