Why would somebody end a friendship with someone when they are angry at a mutual friend?

Two people who were/are friends of mine got into a huge fight after another one called out the behavior of the other one and the person who got called out ended the friendship and then proceeded to end friendships with people who had nothing to do with the fight. I was one of them. From my understanding, this person ended the friendship because I'm friends with the person who called out this individual's inappropriate behavior.

And by inappropriate, I mean getting extremely drunk and belligerent with patrons and the bar staff at the bar we all go to, cussing everyone out when people try to help them, and getting angry and storming off. Which apparently happens all the time. I once went back to their place on another friend's birthday, they continued drinking and when the person who's birthday had shown up, the birthday person ended up getting thrown objects at by this friend.

I had nothing to do with the incident between these two friends yet somehow one of them decides to end the friendship between her and I. It's just confusing.
