Is it ok to hate my b-day because it'll always be on Christmas?

I feel that I've been the unlucky child. I was born 2 weeks earlier than expected, right on Dec 25th in the early afternoon. Awkward indeed.

I've always felt that I never really got to enjoy a normal birthday. My mother on the other hand still calls it her best Christmas gift. Honestly, I hate my b-day. Out of so many other days and it had to be on Christmas. Is it ok to hate my b-day?

No. Hate the fabricated holiday, not your birthday! The holiday will always overshadow your birthday, but you can focus on your birthday like i do. Some people will even tell you to celebrate your birthday on a different day, or even a different month! They’re knowingly celebrating a made-up holiday and I have to change MY birthday? Ell oh ell!
Some people will try extra hard to make your birthday special. Take that as you please, but it always came off as contrived to me. The only ones that didn’t were kids. Kids LOVE Christmas! They love it so much that they treat you like a rockstar when they find out it’s your birthday. That was always nice. It was young children who turned me around on the holiday. I still don’t luv it, but i hate it less. Ell oh ell!

How can anyone decide whether or not something is ok, when it is personal to you?

If you hate your birthday, then of course it's ok.

It's always been very awkward. I always felt that my b-day got lost in between the Christmas Holiday. Several of my friends and relatives are focusing more on Christmas than on my own day and most of the times it's combined into just one gift.

I get that. What I don't get is you asking other people whether or not it's ok.. Of COURSE it's ok.. it's how you feel about YOUR birthday and nobody has the right to say it isn't.. That was what I was trying to say.

Only upside is I can take a day off for both occasions and have the excuse that few people bother with my birthday so why should I bother with theirs

one of my buddies is also a Christmas baby, so I always made sure to wish him a happy birthday, and not merry Christmas.

I guess so. It just feels so awkward to have Christmas and my b-day combined. Many times relatives and others focused much more on the Holiday and my b-day gets lost in between.

My cousin, his birthday is on Christmas and we always went to the Christmas party and at the end he would get a cake and a quiet congratulations
