I just hate Christmas and everything associated with Christmas. Am I the only one?

I only celebrate with my kids for them and the family's enjoyment. I don't really care much for holidays or even my own birthday. Just another year of slowly trudging towards my inevitable death and celebrating it throughout different times each year that we get together for "holidays". I don't even listen to regular Christmas music but rather find the obscene remakes of the Christmas originals and blast it for people to hear. Not at all , I feel like it’s like torture to go through it every year , the same music for the last 30 years and more , the decorations , the Christmas social events , all the costume and fakery. All in the name of capitalism forcing people in to debt for the rest of the year just so their kinds can believe a lie.

I’m sure you’re not. In some ways, I find Christmas hard, because I don’t have much money and I have about a million friends and family to shop for, every year. I also find the hot weather over Christmas in Sydney to be overwhelming. Besides that, I enjoy it.

i don't hate it, I light the lights inspired by Christ and being with family and the aroma of trees and decorations. Jesus story and St Nichauls is inspiring, so I'd rather give more.

I used to hate the music though it is a break from the sh*t they play nowadays.

I used to hate the lights and all though my thoughts changed.

I still hate the corporate chill during this year where they try to shovel down into your throat countless of glitter coated, candy cane, nutcrackers that don’t actually crack nuts, Santa figurines that go ‘Ho Ho Ho’, and more…. Especially since this year I saw Christmas items being sold at the same time as Halloween ones (only at a few stores, it was rare though it still ticked me off).

Christmas is a contradiction because parents lie to their children to make them be good however there lies are bas which intern makes them bad. There’s no difference. It’s the expectation that I need to be happy and joyful. It’s the assumption that I have to like something. Just because you find joy and happiness in something doesn’t mean that others do or did. Just because your day is enjoyable doesn’t mean others have to find joy in too.
To say that I’m “immature” because my world view doesn’t match yours is so selfish. Here’s an idea! Why not force your world view on others. You should force others to see the world as you do even if they don’t want to. And I’m being immature?

Yes. I have very valid reasons. The simple reasons are the commercializations of a holiday. The constant advertising and retailers telling me that buying is the way to show others I love them. The constant bombardment of people telling me that I need to be happy for no other reason that it’s “the season”.
But mostly because I didn’t have a wonderful family growing up. I’m adopted and extended family always treated me as if I was an outsider. My mother was also abusive. Holidays were a time when if you walked on eggshells. I never knew what was going to set her off. Her expectations were never based in reality and if things were up to her standards then a “happy” occasion could turn into yelling, screaming and physical before you knew it. I could go on but I’m tired of thinking about it after all these years.

Look, I’m not responsible for your feelings and obviously until I know a little context then I have to base it off something. As for poverty, that’s a mindset. As for the holidays no longer feeling like the holidays. It’s what you decide it is. Sure they don’t fully commercialize the pagan aspects but still even if they did.
