I personally think it is disrespectful for non-Christian people to celebrate Christmas because as a Roman Catholic myself Christmas is about celebrating the birth of Christ. Westernizing the celebration of Christmas to be is disrespectful to me because I perceive the westernization of the celebration to be disregarding the original intent/celebration of Christmas. Thus, I do hate those who celebrate Christmas without its original intent. Why don't non-Christian people who celebrate Christmas celebrate all religious celebrations in a secular way? To be honest, I would prefer if secular people celebrated the birth of christ even if they aren't religious than celebrating the man with the white beard.
I hate westerners who celebrate Christmas for the sake of Santa; why do you have to lie to your children that Santa is real? There is real beauty in bringing up children with truth and authentic celebrations. Last year for Christmas I made my own Christmas decorations, original to the ones made in the Victorian era when Christmas was a widely spread celebration. Connecting family children/adults whilst drying slices of lemon and orange, attaching strings to walnut/other nut shells, and preparing dried flowers for the Christmas tree is better than buying those ball decorations. After all, you only have a short connection with the family when buying decorations, when a family works hard to make their decorations the celebration of Christmas is more connective and appreciated. Our society has become so materialistic, that you have to buy things for them to be worthy of beauty/appreciation. This Christmas, make your own decorations, make your gifts, and buy as few gifts as possible, be mature and teach your children about religions, and that Christmas is a religious celebration. If you want to lie to your children about Santa, that's on you, you do, but you will spend way more money on Santa gifts, Jesus doesn't bring gifts.
The main intent of my message is for families to have a more meaningful Christmas rather than a materialistic one.
I get annoyed with certain family members for this. I recently bumped into my least favorite aunt and right away she asked me if I was msking a lot of money to buy everyone nice gifts for Christmas. It's rude and offensive. They just EXPECT gifts. Half the time, I don't even see 95% of my extended family - except for Christmas and Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving they show up for free food. Christmas is 110% all about the gifts. They eat, take the gifts and they're out. Then people really have to wonder why I don't like dealing with "family gatherings" 🙄
F-off.
"The origins of Christmas stem from both the pagan and Roman cultures. The Romans actually celebrated two holidays in the month of December. The first was Saturnalia, which was a two-week festival honoring their god of agriculture Saturn. On December 25th, they celebrated the birth of Mithra, their sun god."

"Saturnalia and Christmas
In Rome, where winters were not as harsh as those in the far north, Saturnalia—a holiday in honor of Saturn, the god of agriculture—was celebrated. Beginning in the week leading up to the winter solstice and continuing for a full month, Saturnalia was a hedonistic time, when food and drink were plentiful and the normal Roman social order was turned upside down. For a month, enslaved people were given temporary freedom and treated as equals. Business and schools were closed so that everyone could participate in the holiday's festivities."

Oh trust me. I won't. They will be lucky if I even GO to the "extended family" Christmas. It was way better when my grandparents were alive. They were all about true family time. They would be disappointed with how it's being done now. We don't even have it ON Christmas anymore. It's sometimes in freaking January.
@AndrésC64 No need to sware C64 I have made a mistake. Anyways, though you are right that Christmas was originally an ancient celebration, yet, its direct influence on the modern secular world has been minimal. Modern secular people who celebrate Christmas are directly inspired by the Catholic celebration of Christmas when Prince Albert brought his traditions to England and to the English-speaking world, this created its widespread popularity and celebration. This Christian tradition could be directly (and partially) inspired by pagan and roman cultures but it still makes the secular tradition of Christmas indirectly influential to secular celebrators today. Anyways there are no pagan or roman Christmas decorations to buy in modern society. After all, who is renaissance humanism today? There are modern Christians today who are still alive and feel personally offended by the way Christmas is celebrated and valued by secular today. by the way the links you have provided are interesting, thanks.
And religious people stole it from Kemet from what I'm aware. It goes on and on. Let people do their own thing. They took it and made it their own.
Yep especially since becoming a mom. It's my most worked day out of the year. While everyone else gets to relax and have fun. I'm busy cooking, cleaning and making sure things go as planned 😔
In it's religious context? Yes, I hate it.
In it's modern American representation? No, it's great.
Same for other holidays.

No I don't hate it but I dislike the marketing around (like the presents and commercials and so on) it and how some people think it's only meant for Christians and should be celebrated a certain way. Christmas is something for everyone in my opinion and there's no "perfect" way to celebrate it. Just enjoy it.
Some religious traditions become a national tradition (s) for everyone living there (no matter race, religion or whatever).
I don’t hate Christmas, but find it to be very messed-up. Jesus of Nazareth was most likely born in the summer, and the name actually used to be Saturnalia. Winter Solstice used to be on that day. Apart from the day, bringing a tree and decorating it is barbaric to dendroconservation. Lying to kids about Santa is evil. There are other similar holidays.
Yes I do hate it now. The kids are harder to buy for now since they are adults. Food prices are through the roof. Everyone has their own things planned. The family doesn't get to spend time together like we used to.
I love Christmas but I reject commercialization of this fest
Agreed

I didn't celebrate it the past years, but I'm planning to buy a cake and some chocolate from a fancy pastry shop this year.
In its historical significance I absolutely love Christmas especially the story of St. Nicholas of Myra. To tell of such stories including its true celebration of the birth of Christ should always be remembered as the true meaning.
I don't hate Christmas, but I don't like it as much as I used to.
