Purposely leading you on?

This mom is really attached to her child and we got comfortable with each other and that was that. It didn't go anywhere beyond just good friends. This person's mom start complimenting me & connects me to her child in many ways. This was creating different emotions within me and I couldn't look at her child after that. Why would someone's mom stir up things like this?

I met them for the 1st time and got to work with her son & we got pretty comfortable, at ease, established trust, confidence and he was a great pillar of strength for me. I really appreciated meeting him. We are similar in many ways and I've not felt like i was in a good team like that working with him. His mom said we are very similar and too many compliments came from her. She told me that her son's shy and not the best at reaching out, but you please keep in touch with him and he will surely get back to you. I just felt when the mom was saying all that she had to say it was stiring feelings within me and I didn't want to spoil anything with the guy. I just felt like - is she purposely leading me on? After that I caught her son giving me strong eye contacts here and there leaving me feeling mixed & not sure what's going on here.
