Are there actually good step-parents who wouldn't ever harm a child?

So many cruel stories on the news, awful stepmothers like the Cinderella versions, stepfathers beating or drowing his girlfriend's child, others molesting the child, etc. I understand it's not your child, but damn that's horrible.

What about good step-parents? Are there good ones out there? Or is it few? I was in a relationship with a single father once. He had a 15 month-old baby boy. A baby is a blessing. I still can't understand how anyone can harm babies or little kids. We broke for other reasons but keep in contact as friends. I missed being part of the kid's life. I just greeted him not so long ago on his now 6th b-day.

Truth be told, if I had stayed in the relationship and it would've progressed further, I would've loved being like a 2nd mother to the little guy. It seems like good step-parents make up few.

Some people are scumbags indeed. Last case I've read not so long was a girlfriend that killed a man's 18 month-old daughter. Some women can be just as horrible too. I hope they get what's coming for them in either men's or women's prisons. At least their inmates have better morals regarding children. They hate those that harm or kill babies and kids.
