What are the reasons for a man wanting a daughter as his first child?

Using men tend to prefer sons over daughters because you can relate more with your same gender, the last name Is kept, there is a protector in the family, etc.

My engaged cousin (an only child) actually would like a daughter as his first child. In the end it wouldn't matter and he'll love a son equally too but he would like a girl. I already know the reasons men want a boy. What are the reasons for a man wanting a girl? Any ideas why?

I hate saying this, but having a daughter he knows that she will have it better off than a son? Unfortunately girls do get treated better than boys do in society. I absolutely don't agree with it and wish that society needs to realize that boys need to be treated the same as girls get treated. So many boys are ignored by things where a girl would be treated like a princess for. Girls are always believed when a boy rapes them and get all sorts of attention. Boys that get raped by a girl everyone just ignores him and say stupid things like "He just got lucky "! Thr boy is just left feeling violated and if he enjoyed it or not isn't the issue. Boys see how girls get treated better in society than they do. It's no wonder that they wish they were born girls. Boys need protection just as much as girls do. They also need attention just as much as girls do too!! I honestly feel bad how boys get treated in society I think it's terrible!!

My dad preferred having daughters because girls are more calm when they are little and he felt like he'd be too tough on boys. He has step sons but says that is different because they are more like a best friend and not his responsibility to raise. So maybe it could be for reasons like these

if his daughter is nice, feminine and takes care of herself, she'd have the red carpet rolled out for her

I am a man and would prefer a daughter. In a world so gynocentric and full of feminism and men-hatred it's better to ba a women. It is a priviledge. So if I want the best for my child I wish the best gender for them - and the best is female. Beautiful and powerfull. The world does not need another looser/cannon fodder like myself or other poor men.

Personally I don't want kids atm but if I did I wouldn't care either way. I don't know I feel like if you want to be a good parent you have to be prepared for anything. Raising a girl might be harder for me maybe but it wouldn't mean that I'd be disappointed or so. I don't know I don't really get the preference thing. If you have one you're making it more about yourself than the child and that's not what it should be about in my opinion.

You're turning your child into a store or a restaurant and if they're the "wrong" gender it's like you got bad service or something.

Mental genders aren't real, so there would not be a difference in the liklihood of relating to a child based on what gender it is.

The child's gender is arbitrary to the parent, but they may have preconceived notions that make them form a stereotyoe based on past experiences, causing them to prefer having one over another. What stereotypes he formed one can only guess.

Usually have stronger protective and nurturing natures. Daughters sooth that side of them. With boys there is often the need to make them strong. Depending on the father of course.
