Seeing the meerkats at the San Diego zoo was hilarious. Notice how one is standing up? It’s his turn to watch for hawks. But what’s funny is that his shift only lasts for about 10 seconds, and then he goes back to playing. So as soon as he goes back to playing, another meerkat pops up. It’s amazing. Do they make a work schedule? How do they know whose turn it is to be on watch? For me, it was the best exhibit at the zoo.

They're the most playful critters on the planet, but they still need to watch for hawks. There's a net over there enclosure, so I don't think haws can get in. But I guess they don't know that.
