My friend *Eric*; a mutual friend of mine and ex friend *Daniel’s*; had recently been trying to get Daniel back into our friend group and blamed me for his being kicked out.

He recently texted me to ask me how my dad’s operation went, then he stopped responding to my texts regarding social event invitations. I spoke to Eric’s sister *Sophie*; another friend; about it and she said Eric told her that Eric wasn’t sure if he’d be available because of work and Sophie told me that she’d be the one to tell me whether or not Eric was joining us at the next social event. Has Eric taken a step back from a friend to an acquaintance? Or am I overthinking things?

Maybe he has other stuff going on, maybe not. Very weird his sister is acting as his go-between. I don't know if he put her up to it, or if she acted alone. Doesn't matter. I wouldn't bother with Eric, let him come to you for now.
