I used to play a game with one of our cats. I would slowly peak around a corner or over the top of the sofa at her. When she saw me, I would duck away. When I peaked gain, she would be crouching with her ears flat to the sides and murder in her eyes. I'd quickly duck. When I peaked again, she was closer. By about the third time, she would be right in front of me and lunge and I would pretend to be startled and run. Then she would chase me until I turned around and chased her. We would go back and forth for a while until she became tired. It was a game.
One time, I was peaking up from behind the sofa. At first she was in the middle of the floor. Next time I peaked, she was at the foot of the sofa peeking up over the cushion like she was stalking a deer. The next time I peaked, her face was right in front of me and she whacked me hard in the side the head. No claws. She was just playing.
I miss that girl.20 Reply

m 1 yYep they put the sneak in to sneaky
i have two cats and they constantly amaze me just how sneaky they can be not just with me or other animals but with each other. They play games hunting each other and can spend ages waiting for the other to walk past their hiding spot, then jump out.

1 yI know they are. I have 2 of them, and they both like the rooms where they’re not allowed, usually bedrooms and bathrooms. One night, when I was doing my nightly routine in an empty bathroom, I finished up and left making sure to close the door behind me. In that single second of an opening, one of the cats dashed in with me completely unaware until someone let them out in the morning and finding out to our mutual disgust that they had turned the bathroom rug into their litterbox when they were trapped inside. They’re often sneaky to their own detriment.

1 yI know they are.
My younger cat thinks it's normal to pet everyone. My older cat thinks this is rude. He knows he's not allows to pet her, but can't always resist. You see the wheels turning in his comedic head and he'll ever so slowly stretch out his arm... my girl snaps her head around and he shuts his eyes waiting for a slap. (Which I inevitably catch suspecting as much) which in turns offends her, so have to make up for it with a lullaby, and rub my boys head to let him know he can open his eyes again.

Taken after an old British poem, twisted.
•clears throat•
"There was a Derpy man
And he walked a Derpy mile
Who found a Derpy sixpence
Against a Derpy stile
He had a Derpy cat,
Who caught a Derpy mouse. (Derp fill in with my boys wild baby this past week)
And they all lived together in a little Derpy house." - 1 y
@dustybiker2 Best poem ever written 👏🥇

"There was a crooked man" is the original. It somehow cut out. lol

Best version ever
@Db That is definitely an improvement on the old classic. and it got me wondering.. what else could fit? I taught I saw a derpy cat? but then it hit me.. Lear...
The owl and the Derpy cat went to sea
In a beautiful pea-green boat,
They took some honey, and plenty of money,
Wrapped up in a five-pound note.
The Owl looked up to the stars above,
And sang to a small guitar,
And THEN I thought.. I can't go any further with that because I'm supposed to be on Derpwatch, for when YOU lot start on him, not pick on him myself.- 1 y

@charliefretz329 Thank ye, sir.
@TommyMountainFigure I think the two of us could be at this all day, and Derp loves the attention. He wouldn't have minded your extended version too much. 😏

1 yEvery foot step is so soft that they could sneak up on mice, the most blind, swiftest animal in the kingdom.. Even when they fall down, you don't hear a beep.. But most of all, they can steal your nuggies at any time!

1 yDefinitely sneaky. It's always funny to me how tiny they are but they still act like other big cats from time to time. Like nobody told them.

1 yIf 'stealthy' is considered 'sneaky' then yes... cats are mid-level domestic predators and cannot survive as pure vegetarians. Speed, guile, stealth and ferocity partly compensate for sheer physical size.

1 yNo animal should be seen through human eyes. They just are what they are :)
But if cats WERE human-like, they'd make good politicians
...
manipulative, egoistic/self centered, opportunistic :D
10 Reply Of course. Even ninjas base their movements on cats hunting instincts

10 ReplyI don't know, depends on what you mean by "sneaky". Cats are ambush hunters. That's their instinct.
