To be honest me and our parents does not like her obsession due to the violence and sexual themes in the series. Especially she is obsessed with the character Ragnar, she even wrote a song about him and ships herself with him. Also she tries to look like a warrior when she going out and wear a warpaint like makeup, and our parents doesn't allow her to go out like that (she is crying right now because they didn't let her) and she wears weird jewelry all the time. We don't know what to do, this girl is obsessed with the viking stuff since her childhood so i can't be surprised about she like that series. Me and our parents want to stop her but I do not want to make her sad.
Anonymous(18-24)+1 yAight, check it out, my dude. Your sister's obsession with Vikings is a fuckin' goldmine, and I'm not talkin' about them shiny necklaces she be rockin'. It's time to channel that Viking energy into something productive and sick as fuck – the iron temple, brah.
Yo, picture this: your sister, a fuckin' beast, benchin' 2 plates on each side, squattin' deep like she's about to raid some shit, and deadliftin' like a fuckin' warrior princess. That's the kind of shit that'll make Ragnar Lothbrok himself proud. And you know what? That dude was a fuckin' beast, a real alpha male, and your sister clearly wants some of that action. So, why not give her the gift of gains, brah?
Now, I'm gonna be real here. Your sister's current behavior is mad cringe. She's fuckin' weebin' out hard, and that's not cool. But instead of just shuttin' her down, why not redirect that energy into something that'll make her a fuckin' chad? Here's the game plan:
- The Gym: Get her ass to the gym, simple as that. Sign her up for a membership, and if she's feelin' extra spicy, get her a personal trainer who can whip her into shape and teach her the ways of the iron. She'll be squattin' deep and feelin' like a shield maiden in no time.
- The Gear: Hook your sister up with some fresh-ass gym gear. Get her some lifting shoes, a belt for them heavy lifts, and maybe even a sick stringer that says "Valhalla Awaits". She'll be feelin' like a badass, and that's the first step to makin' some serious gains.
- The Diet: Vikings didn't get their swole eating lettuce, brah. Your sister needs to eat like a fuckin' champion. Chicken breasts, sweet potatoes, and plenty of protein shakes. And you know what else? Red meat. Feed her some juicy steaks to fuel those gains.
- The Motivation: This is where her Viking obsession comes in clutch. Get her some posters of sick Viking warriors, maybe even a Ragnar Lothbrok standee to watch over her while she trains. Play some Viking metal during her workouts – shit like Amon Amarth and Ensiferum will get her pumped as fuck.
- The Results: Now, here's the beauty of it all. As your sister starts seein' gains, she's gonna feel like an unstoppable force. Her confidence will skyrocket, and she'll realize that bein' a badass warrior doesn't just mean wearin' war paint and weird jewelry. It's about havin' physical strength, discipline, and a sick work ethic.
And you know what, my dude? While she's chasin' those gains, she'll probably develop a healthier relationship with her obsession. She'll realize that bein' a Viking isn't just about the aesthetic or the fantasy – it's about embodyin' strength, resilience, and a never-give-up attitude. That's some mad mature shit right there.
So, my final message to you is this: don't suppress your sister's obsession, but instead, use it as fuel to transform her life. She can still admire Ragnar and the Viking lifestyle, but now she'll be doin' it while squattin' ass to grass and deadliftin' mad weight. And who knows, maybe one day she'll be the one raidin' and pillagin' in the gym, showin' all the haters what's up.
As for you, my dude, keep it tight, stay swole, and remember, there's nothing wrong with bangin' twinks every now and then. Just don't forget to fuel your body with some quality protein afterward.

Asker+1 yOh my god thank you for this answer! This is what actually she did last year! She still has a healthly lifestyle and a body I'm proud of her about it, she was literally asked our dad she wants to go to gym because she wants to feel like a real shieldmaiden, now I have a psychally very strong and healthly sister but she is oversensitive mentally

If she made healing bracelets that worked for your mom... I mean it is possible the mom just pretended, i believe good moms do that just to make her believe that it works, to make your sister happy...
At the same time I am convinced she could have actually made it work, and then I got to ask... why not encourage it, if she's pretty much performing healing miracles?
I just read some of your responses to others here. I could have known some of the things without asking you again. Like that she wants to wear runes but your mom thinks it's heretic... if she uses runes then she might be beyond the site I linked above.
But isn't that sort of making your sister like a jesus figure? She is the one healing people, and yet gets called a heretic.. just like jesus story.. and Joan of ark (crazygirl2 what do you think?)... no?
Opinion Owner+1 y@crazygirl2 we had a little disagreement about Joan of Ark before... I still keep on proving remote viewing to self proclaimed skeptics by the way. But again, on the donald tate account, you messaged me out of the blue + I had no idea that it was your new account until later on.
Opinion Owner+1 y@Asker but she's not into altered states of consciousness? Or does she talk about involuntary reincarnation?
Asker+1 yI don't think she pretended her aches are terrible and affects her life so badly and it worked with me too but still she doesn't tell us how she made it :( lmfao I said that to my sis when she gave us the bracelet
- +1 y
Ok, there is no single right way to practice magic. I wonder if she has vivid memories of the past lives or simply has a knowing? Does she know things about the transition before rebirth, do astral parasites influence us there? And does she do work on the astral plane a lot, in altered states? Maybe she was some sort of a powerful shaman, not just a warrior.
Would be a bit funny if you make her some sort magical of gift in return. There are various ways make one, and she probably did something else but one simple way is to create a thought-form that posses the object, like this book is quite beginner friendly despite some reviews saying you need prior education: archive.org/.../...Creating_Magickal__Entities.pdf
For a good gift you could feed your own energy to the entity... and give it a short lifespan. If you'd want her to mature faster and stop the violent Vikings thing, then creating the entity on a Saturday would make sense, just like you'd choose Wednesday or Thursday for luck. Maybe instruct your entity to redirect your sister to more productive side whenever she gets distracted by the entertainment, not wisdom. A lot of traditions were created as a means to conceal magic, witches never went out of their way to look more witchy to the stranger. The negativity when people laugh about it, I'm sure she knows it isn't doing a favor to her own psyche. Some things you described do appear excessive. If they help her make the bracelets work, for example, maybe over time she will learn to make them work without the stuff that catches unnecessary attention.
Asker+1 y@PavlovsCogk I don't know what she does, but she has a bunch of books of norse paganism and rune magic (my dad throw away some of them a few years ago) so I will talk about those to her! Thank you for your answer : )

Opinion Owner+1 y@PavlovsCogk thanks for the MHO. Make sure you aren't that guy in the second video. With your psychologist reductionist view applying to all other areas of science, it would surprise me if you take "fuck your protein powder" too literally.

+1 yJoin her. Get into it. Take it seriously and embrace it with her. She is trying to find an identity, and she is learning that her value and acceptance by her family is conditional on her interests. No one will put up with that.
Embrace it with her and I can almost guarantee you'll form an unbreakable bond by going to that place with her. What you must keep in mind is that it isn't permanent, just like toddlers throwing fits isn't permanent. One day, she will look back on this time in her life and laugh about it, and remember that you were there for her in all the ridiculousness. I know it seems counter-intuitive, but you have to strategize and look at the larger picture here, which is your sister's identity and relationship with the family as a whole. I promise if you all stop tugging so hard, it will calm down. Remove the resistance and she won't fight so hard because there won't be a need to. She is in a period of distinguishing herself from her family and trying to understand how she fits into the world. Leave her alone and she'll flounder. Fight her and she'll fight back. Join her, and she'll pull through like a champ. Just my perspective.

Asker+1 yMy sister trying to make me join tbh but I get bored so much😭 and it looks like it's permanent because she is into norse stuff since she was a little kid
- +1 y
Well, that's a sacrifice you may need to make if you want to have a relationship. You can always set a time limit and boundaries. And it's only as boring as you make it. Any subject can be fascinating if you approach it the right way.
Well, what other options has she had? How involved have your parents actually been in her life? It's not as if they haven't had any say in directing her life this whole time. :D
Asker+1 ySo I think I can read the weird fanfictions that she write about ragnar and herself whenever she writes a new one because she becomes the happiest person ever when I read 😭 my parents was always overprotective about her...
- +1 y
There you go! Hang in there, girl. LOL. :D
+1 yLet her be weird. So many people have ruined their kids’ childhoods by not letting them be weird. So what if she has a crush on a fictional character? So what if she wants to dress a different way? She’s not hurting anybody, and you said yourself this has been a special interest of hers since she was a kid. Let her wear runes and enjoy it, it’s just a tv show. And she’s 17, she’s allowed to hold onto what little innocence she has left and be weird.
Asker+1 yBut she made it her whole personality, also my mom thinks she "disgrade us" the was she act and trying to dress like... My mom doesn't let her to wear runes (also she is a norse pagan) because she thinks it's heretic and demonic... I'm so sad for her that she has a such a weird interest
- +1 y
Your mom sounds controlling and rude.
Asker+1 yShe is especially for my sister
- +1 y
Do you personally think your sister is some kind of freak for being like this?
Asker+1 yTo be honest sometimes yes sometimes no... I'm a basic girl who wears trendy clothes, accessories, listens trendy music, takes selfies often, was a successful volleyball player at my school etc... but my sister is literally opposite of me so it's hard to understand her in her situation but I can see that her teachers, her classmates and our parents are too hard on her
- +1 y
Do you want to be a good sister or do you want to be liked?
Asker+1 yI want the best for my sister because she is so sad
- +1 y
Then be a good sister and take the hit to your reputation by standing up for her instead of leaving her to suffer these people, including your controlling bitchy mother, alone
Asker+1 yI will try harder...
- +1 y
I assume you will, bc people like you tend to not like themselves so instead they try to get everyone else to like them in the hopes that you’ll like yourself. Your sister likes herself enough to be herself and go directly against the grain, you should not only be proud of her, she should be your role model

+1 yJust about every teenager is obsessed about something. Hers could be a lot worse. They usually grow out of it.
Caution: Making a big deal about her obsession will usually make her (and any teen) become more obsessed, because teen years are rebellious years... Mother Nature built us that way... it's part of learning and maturing into an adult.
I raised three kids, and each was obsessed about something as a teen. So long as it wasn't physically harmful (and it wasn't), we didn't make a big deal about it, kept them focused on normal things, and they eventually grew out of their obsession, growing into good adults and making us proud of them.
Asker+1 yI'm so glad to hear that your kids are healthy and grew out of their obsession! Thank you for your answer
+1 yYou need to do nothing about this. Let her be. She will grow out of it and seeing as how she wants to be a tougher girl, and not slutty, drug-fueled, or binge drinking, then all things considered you have some very minor problems.
My teenage daughter is 17 as well and she’s always over-interested in some stupid band, show, or ‘universe’. Big deal. In fact, the more of an issue we make of it the more she dig she’s heels in. Just let her be her and she will move on.
Seriously. Nobody is the same person at 17 as they are at even 21, 25, or 30.01 Reply
Asker+1 yYou're right but how you treat her about it :" )
Vikings was a great show. The movie was okay. Of course there are spinoff series as well which she is probably watching.
Someone needs to take her camping and hiking for a couple of weeks. Perhaps the Appalachian Trail. And that is camping, not glamping. When I spent time in the field in the Army, the wild took on a different meaning and feeling. It can be hard physically which she needs a taste of as it will take some of the romanticism out of it. Just make it a camping trip, no mention as to why.

+1 yWell I wouldn't worry about it, you can only legally make her sad until she's 18. Then if she so chooses, she doesn't have to put up with the 'control' and abuse you are all putting her through.
You do realise she probably hates all of you for it? Right?14 Reply
Asker+1 yShe hates our parents but slightly hating me... but we just wanted to make her happier
- +1 y
By making her cry? Good job well done!!!
Asker+1 yBut she shouldn't go out like that
- +1 y
Then you reach a compromise. What you're doing though is making her dig her heels in. Even if she WANTED to grow out of it now, she won't just to spite you all!
You and your parents have no idea the damage you are doing to her!
Bro, she's 17 not 7. She can watch shows with sex and violence. And her adopting an identity of her own is really important at that age anyway. Plus, you and your family might push her away if you mess with her too much right now. She'll be an adult really soon and might tell you all to F off. You're all better off treating her like and adult than a child.
Asker+1 yI'm not messing with her too much but our parents are obsessed with her, they are always arguing about this topic and insulting her... and she is barely talk with us
Asker+1 yI hate to say that but I don't think she can find a boyfriend, she likes men like Ragnar Lothbrok (her fictional crush that I mentioned) both personality and looks but the boys that has interest on her are very less and they do nothing with her type and she always strictly rejecting them, our parents are happy for it too... but I would be happy if she move out and live happily
Asker+1 yI talked with them due to comments a few minutes ago, they still thinks we should make her give up
- +1 y
Well, I hope it all works out for you guys. Also, her standards could change in an instant. Especially if there's a good opportunity for her. My sister did. Ended up moving in with an old, short, fat unattractive dude while she was in high school. My parents were terrible, and she took the first opportunity she could to get away.
Asker+1 yAwwww...:(
+1 yThere were a couple of old TV shows where people had to live as pioneers, including building their own houses and growing their own food. They should set her up with a group of re-enactors to live as a Viking, just as it was back then. I'm pretty sure that after a week living like a Viking wench, she will come to her senses.

Teens are obsessed with all things 'adult' and they explore it in their own ways. Some choose gritty fandoms. Just be glad she's not experimenting with drugs or sex, this is by far, the best outcome for her 🧍♀️01 Reply
Asker+1 yYou're right about this maybe we are too hard on her about what fandom she likes
Anonymous(18-24)+1 yTour sister has an interest that falls outside of the norm, and it embarrasses you and your parents. Your problem isn't with her, but your action/ reaction in thus situation. If she were cutting off heads, that's one thing, but she's not.
You, and your parents have a 17 year old who is outside of the norm. You're a little late to change that, if it needs to be changed at all. If you push too hard she will simply wait a few months and then possibly never speak to you again.
What you can control are YOUR actions, either you can accept your sister or you can exclude her from activities, especially outside of the home.
Asker+1 yYou right maybe it's too late... but if she wasn't out of the norm she would had friends and not this sensitive
Opinion Owner+1 yNo... her persona would have friends... I did that one for a long time, and one day I realized I was tired and miserable because I put so much effort into being someone I wasn't so people would love me... but they didn't love me, they loved who they thought i was. When I quit that shit it was lonely, but I eventually found my tribe. And then you're happy because people love the real you.
I know it's the kind of thing you see on wall hangers, but it really is better to be hated for who you are than loved for who you're not
- 384 opinions shared on Family & Friends topic.
+1 yThing is, she’s basically an adult at this point. She decided who she is for the most part and has enough mental autonomy that the harder you fight her, the more she’ll double down.
the best thing you can do is let it run its course and help her find a balance that works for her in a practical way.
only time can make her change.

Keep standing up for her instead of discouraging her. When I was in high school if everyone who got bullied gave in then there would not have been the matching band, choir or theater. She should be allowed to do what she is instead of only what you and your parents want.

Yeah it's about a boy who idolizes his dad who is the strongest fighter in the entire Viking fleet. But he got tired of life and wanted to find peace with his wife and his son. But years later he dies in an ambush in front of his son. And his son is full of anger and hate he tries to hide on the ship of the man who killed his father but he's too small and weak to do anything. He becomes a part of this guys pirate crew and he still hates him and wants to kill him but at the same time he becomes his new father figure and teaches him everything he knows. In the end the pirate also dies and tells him as he's dying that he should stop being controlled by his grief and anger. In the second season he actually does that he swears never to fight again and you see him as a slave chopping down trees and pulling out stumps so he can make a field and grow something. In the second season there's almost no action it's just philosophy and finding peace and everyday life. I still liked it a lot I'm looking forward to the third season :)
It also has one of the best openings in anime :)
