Some months ago, I met someone whom I felt (or that's what I thought) some kind of connection. We stayed in contact via WhatsApp, but I wanted to meet again face to face. In the beginning, he promised it was going to be, but time passed and I started to see that the "connection" started to fade away like always. In the beginning, I didn't care, but later I wanted to meet online via zoom or video WhatsApp, he said he would, but he didn't, neither he sent any apology.
I decided to give up and stop communicating, but I didn't want to ghost him, so after a month, I told him the deal, but he didn't take it well, and then a discussion began, where we wrote and said things that unintentionally hurt the other. He put me the responsibility in going on with friendship if I still wanted it, and I thought that no due to my mental health. He didn't take it well saying hurtful things. At that moment I felt it was the best.
Some days later, after a talk with my therapist, regrets and remorse came, and I wanted to make peace. Even though, he wrote me hurtful things, saying that I shown him all the worst of me and that I was the only one who created the whole problem. I told him I just wanted to fix things, and he just wrote ok, they are fixed. But even though I tried to explain and apparently he is not mad with me anymore, I still don't feel things are solved. In the discussion, he told me that I wasn't emphatic and that I didn't understand him and his POV about being 2 adults with own lives, but I feel that neither him due to the hurtful messages he wrote even when I wanted to apologise and make amends.
Right now, things are ok according to him, but very deep inside me, I don't feel it. After the messages sent, I don't feel we can still be friends unless we retalk about it, but I am sure he will just get angry and end things for good.
Should I trust my gut about not looking for him anymore?
