i was really close friends with someone who was a mooch once.

They would hit me up and be like “you wanna come over and order food?” And then when I would get there, I would be expected to pay for all of it. Like you don’t do that 😭 if you ask someone to go out to eat or order food, then typically that means you pay for it or at least split it. You don't invite someone out and then slide them the bill…

Or he would ask to borrow money and not pay me back. He would do it all the time.

he moved to another state and we don’t talk much anymore but to this day he calls me once in a blue moon and asks if I can send him money. Like bro get a new fucking job. Clearly these McDonald’s paychecks aren’t cutting it 💀💀

He was lucky that I was such a good friend to him for as long as I was.

Yes, plenty of them. I am apparently an easy target to abuse and exploit.

I know what it means to struggle, and having to rely on other people; so when I know someone struggles, I want to help out... but I always end up helping the wrong people.

I made a friend during the first days of college and very early I realized he was the worst type of mooch... the one that wants to live off you to the extreme but also will take offense if you ask him to spend a single dime on anything, lmao... cheap AF... he actually was more a cheapskate than he was a mooch, lol

I also struggle. I usually just slowly stop talking to them hoping they get the hint.
Like I still talk to the guy I was talking about every here and there even though I have no interest in being friends anymore. I just can’t bring myself to communicate

I dont even intentionally stop talking to people. I really be forgetting people if we’re not dating. I’m a tad careless when it comes to friendships in general or fam i hardly care for. And i have a sucky short term memory lol

Same here. It’s hard for me to keep up with conversation with people who aren’t outside my close circle. And even with my close friends, I don’t respond to their texts as much as I should
My friends know how I am and don’t take it personally.
But there are many people who I wish I kept more contact with over the years

They wouldn't get to friend status and if they have wouldn't stay as one. There is a guy who mooches but he has learnt to give me a wide berth at my local cafe. I make it abundantly clear i hold him in contempt.
