So a guy who is friends with my brother gave me a book recommendation last week and I’ve been dying to find an excuse to go to the bookstore anyways. Would it be weird if I sent him a photo of the book if I see it and say something like “taking your book recommendation into consideration”?

Not at all weird. Though it is edging on flirty, but it would be an unclear thing (meaning guy would possibly be flattered, or might just be like "oh cool, sure, its a good book").

No, not really. I think it's a good idea actually. And it's sort of seductive in a very subtle way which is very appropriate. Have to get the book and if you like it make sure to send him a note regarding how much you enjoyed it and thanking him for that experience.

No. If he started it by recommending the book it's possible it's his way of flirting to see if there's anything possible between you. If you like him then it's a good way to get to know each other better
