Trying to be nice to neighbours?

A month ago my neighbour asked to borrow money. I have no problems helping someone out just as long you pay me back. Problem is once they pay me back the next day they are asking to borrow again lol. Friday that just passed they asked to borrow money and they would pay me back this Tuesday. I lent it to them. Sunday they texted asking me to loan them some more. I told them I didn’t have it. They were like whatever you can give then. I told them again I didn’t have it. I felt good saying no when I actually didn’t want to really help them. I would normally keep giving but I’m trying to change that about me. Do you think they were taking advantage of my kindness?

Yes they were most likely taking advantage of you because what’s the point in paying it back if they just “need” more right away? I struggle to say no to people like that too but sometimes their shamelessness is just ridiculous and you have to cut them off

They were definitely taking advantage. Asking right away allows them to use money without really paying back, they give just to make another debt with you. And they automatically asked for whatever you had which is very rude.
