I don't remember which ones they got. But it was the recommended ones at that time. They keep adding more and more recommended shots, so it was probably not as many as babies are given today.
I don't remember any shot affecting eyesight. I know jaundice is common in babies (my son had jaundice). It can affect the color of the eyes as well as the skin. Cataracts are also common with babies. I'm not aware of any routine shot for either one, but they may exist.
Babies today get WAY more vaccines than when I was a baby myself. For example I have had both measles and chicken pox (I mean the virus, not the vaccine). I think babies/toddlers are immunized against both of those now. For that matter, I don't even know if I got a polio vaccine when I was a baby, although I got one later. Polio was still common when I was young.
Keep in mind that here in the US, the CDC recommends certain shots. But mandatory shots to enter school are determined by the state. It can vary quite a bit from state to state. So if you are doing your homework, make sure you check your state as well as the CDC.
In my opinion, all the vaccines a baby receives in the first year of life are crucial. Anything after that, I suppose someone can weigh their benefits or not, but I would fully vaccinate all my kids.
