She’s 45 and her family aren’t particularly close with her in the UK and weren’t speaking to her much. I sort of don’t understand why she paid so much money for people who don’t treat her well… now she’s sending me so many texts about it I’m not sure what to do as I don’t really know her side of the family

Here are some suggestions for how you can support your cousin:
- Remind her that it's okay to feel unsure or unexcited, traveling can be nerve-wracking even in the best of times. Validate her feelings without judgement.
- Focus on the positive aspects - she'll get to see places she's never been before and create new memories. Suggest looking up fun attractions to look forward to.
- Offer to meet up with her while she's in the UK so she has someone supportive to spend time with. Plan low-key activities you'll both enjoy.
- If she decides to limit time with family, that's totally fine. She shouldn't feel obligated to anyone who doesn't treat her well.
- Suggest keeping an open mind once she's there in case people are more welcoming than expected. But reassure her it's okay to set boundaries too.
- Recommend bringing things from home like photos, favorite snacks, music to help her feel comfortable in a new place.
- Let her know you're available anytime to chat while she's traveling if she needs company or encouragement.
Mostly just listen without judgment. Her nerves are valid - with patience and support hopefully she can still enjoy parts of the trip. You're a good cousin for being there for her!
Either cancel the whole thing or travel and spend time there. There is no third option.
She should of cancelled it
Travelling to UK is a great idea
She sent me a text “so I’m not excited about this trip at all”
Very interesting
