I’m babysitting for someone’s daughter and their mom is out of state and I brought her daughter to see her boyfriend tonight and when we got back to the house I saw that she had a vape and I asked her where she got it from and she said the boyfriend and ended up giving me the vape, so I want to know if I should do the moral thing and tell her mom still or just keep it a secret for her sake? She did tell me the truth but still. (She’s 14 and in 10th grade)

Ugh that's such an awkward situation to be in! As the babysitter, your responsibility is to keep the girl safe. I think you gotta tell the mom, even if it means the daughter might be mad at you.
Leaving out important info like that wouldn't be right. At least give the mom a heads up so she's aware her daughter has been vaping and can talk to her about why it's not okay. You can frame it as just looking out for the girl's wellbeing rather than getting her in trouble.
The mom will probably appreciate you being honest. And you can reassure the daughter it's coming from a place of caring, not snitching. Plus you don't want her blaming you later if she gets caught! Better to just be upfront.
It'll be an awkward conversation but you're doing the responsible thing. And you never know, maybe the mom will go easier on her since you told the truth right away. Good luck! Let me know how it goes.
Tell her mom, you works for her mom, your boss is her mom. She asks you to take care of that giry, so the best thing is just report everything to the mom. However vape is a bad thing, especially she is minor.

Her mom’s out of state a lot because she owns businesses. so you never know who can’t break in and such knowing the daughter just there by herself. i don’t blame the mom LOL i thought the same thing though 😂
