Why is it so hard to find people my age who like the stuff I like?

I can occasionally find someone my age who maybe like one or two of the things I like almost always anime or video games.

But I like so many things and can never find anyone else who likes it for instance I like to watch TV shows or podcasts like

Horseback riding never get to do that one

Homesteading

Resin work

Working with concrete to make like statues or bird baths

I like reading romance novels In the dark romance, fantasy , sci-fi , or monster genres I also read books that aren't romance that are more like adventure focused

I write stories

I love board games like trivia pursuit

Catan

Like video games

Fishing

Or anything with animals

Love to bake and cook

I'm trying to learn how to crochet

I make soap and lotion

I tend to have things like this hanging in my house

I'm wanting to learn more about mechanics and about electricity just not sure how I'd do that yet.

Like I'm engaged but my fiance doesn't actually like anything I like says it's boring

I don't get why my interest are considered so boring to other people

Gardening = I enjoy making very fancy gardens and terrariums
Horseback riding never get to do that one = I'm scared of doing this._. (because of heights and not being in control, not because of horses)

Resin work = I like 3D printing action figures, statues, and tabletop miniatures

Why did you accept the marriage proposal of someone who makes you feel boring? That strikes me as a bad idea.

Anyway, to answer your question, I think the problem is that a lot of people make their content consumption a big part of their personality. The subcultures of the various parts of your content diet have an almost exclusionary approach to socializing with other members of their groups. Someone who is into wood working and watching "How it's made" videos to the point that it's a topic of conversation probably isn't going to be someone who is into anime culture. People who are into anime tend to make being into anime a big part of their personality

it sounds like you have so many hobbies you don't have time to meet anyone who might share them!

where are you trying to meet people? there are events specific to those hobbies and activities that you can go to or even organize. for example, if you can clear some time to regularly attend a horseriding class, you'll only and exclusively meet other people who like horseriding.

if you're decent at some of those skills, you could also organize classes. go to your local library and tell them you'd like to run a soapmaking class and if you could use their space. they'll probably let you do that and advertise it there. then you can teach people what you know and you'll meet people that way too. you may actually create interest in an otherwise unknown and obscure activity by doing this.

you can also go to a boardgame cafe to play Catan; the local hobby shop here lets you play boardgames for free and they of course have Catan. just pop in and ask around if anyone would like to play a game.

that sort of thing. your requirement that they be around your age is obviously a limiting factor; how many people at these things will be in their early 20s? moreso at the hobby shop or at anime conventions (but they may also be younger), much less so for horseriding or soapmaking. why not relax this requirement—why not meet and connect with someone older or younger than you? but what if you keep this requirement taut anyway—aren't you still putting yourself in the best position to meet people your age with similar interests by meeting as many people with similar interests as possible? so that would be my advice.

Meeting people, requires leaving the house & making an effort.

Just in my little town - I'm able to go to woodworking, knitting/crochet club + book club (both created by me), baking/cooking classes, ceramic - creative, even know a "team" that goes horseback riding together bi weekly, so I'm sure that if you were bothered and truly want connections, you'll find it.

I think it's because today entertainment and hobies have become so diverse that everyone has their own specific preferences. Like you can go to a anime convention but everyone will have slightly different interests and stuff. I've struggled with this as well. People are just used to getting exactly what they want the way they ant it and when another person is there with different interests it messes up the previously "perfect" situation. You have a ton of different interests so you have to find different people to do different things with. Even that will be tricky, but possible. You won't find someone who does all of these together like you.

Tbh I love about 2/3 of that and you sound like a very interesting and eclectic person! I know it's cliche to say but the world doesn't understand its artists. Don't let others not participating in your things that bring you joy make you depressed! You keep doing you! I do find it a little concerning that not only does he not want to participate but he seems preachy and judgy about it. It sounds like a conversation that needs to occur.

Eh I tried to get him to try some of the things I like to do but he really has no interest in it.
For instance I tried to get him to do some ceramics with me it didn't even need to be on the wheel it could be table building. He touched the Clay for 5 seconds when wedging it then washed his hands and said I'll pass I don't like the feeling on my hands.

Or I tried to get him to make soap with me walked away for a second missed all the fun bits then came back and said well that was boring.

He did tell me he likes to bake but I'm calling horse shit on that we have lived in the same house for over 6 years And I can count on one hand the amount of times he's ever cooked or baked anything and 3 of Which was for our anniversary.

We don't actually have a whole lot in common but that's alright at least he stays out of my way for the most part.

Actually used to be a cake decorator and he was talking shit saying the job isn't that hard so I handed him a bag of icing and some tips and said decorate the cake then and do it better than me.

I gave him a full work to research anything he wanted about decorating a cake he decided it wasn't as easy as he thought.

I can normally find people who are into anime or video games but the other stuff not so much typically if I do it's a 80 year old man or woman on their death bed who can't actually do any of it anymore just tell me stories about their dad teaching it to them

I have noticed I tend to get annoyed with people my age
I've held several conversations with people my age and I'm confused by the amount of shit they don't know

For instance The amount of people I have met that furnaces AC units dishwashers and dryers have filters that need checked and cleared out or how to replace the pump thing in the back of the toilet stop it from whining. Or that there sink has a trap I call it an elbow but you know what I mean they didn't even know there sink had it or how to fix a clogged drain fuck most of them don't even in their food or how to make anything that doesn't go in the microwave
