How should I explain this to my friends?

I’m from a quietly rich family, but we mix with and live amongst poorer families. My parents are considering buying me my own place. My parents may not want other people to know they’re that wealthy. What should I tell my friends if they buy it? Should I just say that I’ve been left some money by a great aunt that passed away?
