Could I just be overthinking or does my mom think my son (Her grandchild) is her son?

Ever since I had my son my mom acts as if he’s her son. Normally grandparents call their grandchildren their “Grandchild” but she says things like “My little man.” When talking about him to others. She says things like “If it’s up to me. He won’t be delayed. He’s gonna be smart and advanced.” As if it’s her duty to teach him and show him educational things. I love my mother. She’s a great grandmother. She was a great mother but when it comes to my son she acts as if she can care for him better than me.

Girl that is so not cool of your mom! Acting like your son is hers is definitely overstepping some serious boundaries. Some grandparents are super close with the grandkids but what she's doing sounds more like she thinks she's the actual parent.

I'd be weirded out too if my mom talked about "my little man" like that. Raising a child is your job, not hers. And saying she'll make sure he's smarter than if it was up to you? Rude much? She can't just swoop in and replace you as mom.

I'd have a talk with her and lay down the law. Tell her you appreciate her help but that you're the mom and get the final say. Set some limits on how much time she spends alone with him too so she doesn't try taking over. Make it clear you love her as Grammy but that your son has one mother - you!

Don't let her bulldoze your parenting. You've got this mama thing on lock, so don't let her mind games make you second guess yourself. Stand up for yourself sis, you don't need that kinda stress! She'll get over it once she knows not to mess with you. You've got this mamma!

She probably is not meaning to but yeah single moms and grand moms often do this! 😅

My sister in highschool had twins and she only likes the daughter. Treated her like her new daughter and raised her leaving my teen sister carrying her son every where. Course I helped but...

She is not replacing you! She loves you she is just overly focused on your baby. Talk with her about it. You have a right to your feelings!
