I don’t think I can have a genuine connection with my dad? is this a valid reason?

I’ve been struggling with a mix of emotions lately. After cutting contact with my stepfamily, it doesn’t feel possible to have a genuine connection with my dad anymore. I grew up close to them, only to end up feeling hurt, disrespected, and not listened to. When I tried to reach out and repair things, my stepsister lied about something I never said, causing even more issues. I’ve taken accountability for my part, apologized, and tried to make things right, but the exclusion from their lives still stings.

What makes it harder is hearing about my stepsister’s engagement and pregnancy, knowing my dad is fully supporting her and playing the father role in her life, while the relationship between us remains questionable…It’s bittersweet because while I want to be happy for them, it’s tough seeing him be so involved in her life with no apparent concern for the distance between us or them. I can’t shake the feeling of being left out and overlooked, even after trying to mend things.

Having to hear my father talk about them and I ask about them. My dad said I didn’t have to ask about them bc (they don’t care how I’m doing)
