Should fathers have paternity leave also?

My husband only got one week for his first child and 6 weeks for his second. Sounds fair not really.

6 weeks is a dream. If it’s paid then that’s even better. In my country men get unpaid paternity leave for 2 weeks, but only if the mother of the child doesn’t take maternity leave. My partner quit his job right before our son was born so that he could be around to help and get to know his son, and 2 weeks of unpaid paternity leave is bullshit.

Nope. No need.
Here is why. Farming which is the oldest profession requires people to work the field 24/7. If someone missed on watering the plants they are going to die.
Same for work. You can't say oh take a 1 month break. And it will be fine. It won't be fine. And imagine you farm your own land and things will get even more interesting from there.

Even maternity leave shouldn't be a thing. Women stay in home. Men should be out working as we don't face same problems.

Oh by the way, people keep crying about how will we make ends meet. Go back 40-50 years when women were not in workforce, the average wage rate in today's value was a lot higher than what we have today. Why because wage or job market was not diluted with double the wage force. Of course one problem leads to another. A lot of people will say there are single moms who need to work. But they are hardly anymore then 20% of the population. They can work but why are all the rest working and distorting the labour market. It's not like your taking student loans is helping any of us but the banks and corporations.

Now at the same time I believe that a woman has the right to believe and do whatever she wants to do it's her body is between her and God if I was walking past and abortion clinic and somebody was picking on a lady and would not allow her in I would step in front of the lady and help her get in that building because nobody needs to be bullied for anything in this world like I said it's between her and her God

Now if the lady was my girlfriend or just the lady that was having my baby there would be another story I would have to take her to court and fight her for that child

That's so wrong, men deserve to bond with their new born just as much as tye mother. What happened if one day something unfortunate happens to the mother in the situation and the dad needs to step up yet he knows nothing about the baby's days to day life and has no bond

Yess ofc! It's important for the dad to be home so mom can heal and they can bond with the baby. My husband has had 3-4 months off with our past two babies and it's been amazing. My other babies he only got 10 days and 3 weeks. Both those times it was really stressful on me I was still bleeding and it was a struggle to heal. My older kids do not have as close of a bond with my husband so I wonder if it's because of him not being able to stay home with them as much.

Where I live the mother and father can split the paternity leave (it's not 50/50 though). Usually mothers stay at home longer or father's don't use the option but the option is still there. I think it's getting more popular as well to split the paternity leave when both parents work so they can get back to work faster or make it more equal if both parents take leave.

I mean yeah, the father needs to bond with the little nugget as well as help take care of them, so yeah I agree fathers should have paid paternity leave as well as the mother
