Who would run a marathon?

Just saw the marathon in NYC and got inspired to ask. I so would!

I have. It's all just conditioning and will power. Worst parts about long distance is that the tendons in your feet elongate thus your feet get longer and if your shoes are not big enough you will cause trauma to your toe nails. That happened to me once. My big toe nail turned black and eventually fell off. like 30 minutes after you stop running you can't walk anymore and your body basically locks up. You sleep for like 12 hours wake up and then you have trouble walking for like a week. Chaffing/blisters are also a problem. You have to lube everything with KY jelly. You lube your feet and then put socks and shoes on. You lube your arm pits, groin, and butt cheeks... I know, sounds pretty gay but it works. If you do that, you minimize damage and pain. Other than that, just have a long sound track of music that will move you and just keep pace.

Another think that sucks is edema in your hands. You're constantly swinging your arms as you run or walk so fluid starts to pool in your hands and get all swoll up. You have to constantly squeeze your hands... For me it tends to happen either way, but your hands balloon up on the real long runs, but it goes away by the next morning.

I’d give it a shot if I was prepared to train for it. I already do triathlons, albeit usually the sprints
