Being trans isn't an illness. It would not get that pity/attention that munchausen needs, after the initial "coming out" it would just be normal again. Maybe some people (especially the child) would be mad at her, but not pity. So that wouldn't make any sense for munchausen by proxy, no.

Trans and Trans kids have gotten a lot of attention and TV time. The picture posted is actually from a widely circulated news outlet who had a news article on the mother. That strategy made it more successful in garnering attention than a child with cancer.

The attention is a completely different kind. It's not pity, it's curiosity. Nobody's saying "poor kid and parent, let's send them soups" they're saying "wow I didn't even know that could happen at that age! How unusual..." This does not line up with the motives of munchausen.

I think the munchausen motive is attention, period. No matter the form. She will interact with doctors, specialists, social workers, a community of trans, the media, social media and more.

She won't interact with doctors or specialists until years down the line. She won't interact with social workers at all unless it is at risk of losing custody because she's forcing it on her child and the child realizes this and fights back. That's not what munchausen wants either. Look it up—it's not just any attention. It's pity/sympathy. If any attention would do then they would just be compulsive liars and would not feel the need to lie only about illnesses specifically. That wouldn't make any sense unless it's specifically for pity attention.

I don't agree with publicizing anything about kids, so I also worry about her. I worry about any kid who's parents expose them to media or social media.

You can't put that in a kids head any more than you can put it in the head that they aren't trans—which is to say, you can, but only if you keep them alienated from anyone who could cause them to seriously question that belief. In this case that would mean keeping the kid isolated from all transphobes and all trans people, which I seriously doubt has been the case.
