Is it rare for a parent to report their own child to the principal's office?

Well almost and it's not something I'm proud of. 2 years ago (then 14), my parents somehow found out about my behavior towards someone else.

My father is a child psychologist himself and mom is a grade and middle school teacher. Yet, I underestimated it all and didn't think they would take this seriously enough to nearly report me (that would've meant a suspension for me) themselves. It was followed by withdrawal of attention (they had a very disappointing expressing, barely speaking to me), a longer grounding, cell confiscated, limited access to Internet, them speaking with the other student and them walking me to class and picking me up from school (not letting me take the bus) for a longer time; quite embarassing. Usually dad isn't too much into longer grounding but he agreed with mom on it; the only he wasn't on my side either.

Now I know they wouldn't cover up for me if I'm 100% in the wrong. Are parents like mine rare?

I’m more curious about what you did that warranted such a severe reaction on the part of your parents. It sounds like a reason to scare a kid straight by sending them to juvie for a weekend

They found out my 3 friends and I were being unfair to this girl. I was the one leading others to bother and isolate her and this went on for nealy a year. A classmate told my parents about it and showed them the proof. I forgot my parents had a zero tolerance on this.

We treated it a joke but looking back, nope. It wasn't good.

It is rare and wrong. The parents should deal with it.

I guess. They just think wrong is wrong, regardless of who is doing the bad behavior.

More parents should be like your mom.

Yeah they're unique in that case. They told me not to confuse being supportive towards me and always loving me with enabling bad behaviors. Their style is an ''I love and support but won't cover up nor lie for you''.
