What do you say at the table when extended family asks about work?

This is a Thanksgiving question but I'm sure everywhere has occasions where this situation happens.

Takes me back to some extremely awkward conversations 😳

Everyone in my extended family knows exactly what and how my work is. Most of them stop in for dinner at times and I do not comp their meals every time.

You tell them how things are going at work, being careful not to mention any specifics that might be interpreted as company secrets.

Usually they are just interested in updates in life and know that work takes up a lot of time. I’ll let them know i am busy and give summaries of projects.
