How does rolling your eyes (out of boredom) merits a backhand?

I'm not speaking with my grandmother at this point because she did this. Plus that kind of hard for a woman. It landed on my nose and cause a bit of nosebleed.

I angrily told her ''I'm freaking bleeding, I hate you'' and slammed my bedroom door. I was bored with politics conversation, had a stressful day at school and now this. I felt assaulted to be honest. Just for rolling my eyes, does it merit getting physical with a backhand enough to get you a nosebleed? Too much. I never got backhanded in my life, much less like that. I hate her.

Now I lost even more respect for her. My parents didn't like what she did either and are having a very serious conversation with her.

Your grandmother seems out of touch, what she did was wrong and she should apologize a lot, also beware of listening to people on this site for answers a lot of individuals on here seem to think all minors should be slapped silly just for existing.

She's outdated for sure. Her and other older folks probably think that we (the minor that just got hit) should apologize. That's so askew. Why would I apologize for getting hit and a nosebleed from that?
My parents are totally against what she did.

yet backhanding someone and causing a nosebled is assault. My father (her son) didn't like it at all and said next time she ever lays a hand on me, they'll file assault charges and will go NC with her.

Exactly it is assault. It's unbelievable how people in the past defended that. Not anymore. My father made it clear to her (his mother) that it's the first and last time she ever lays a hand on me. Next time, charges are going to be filed and they will cut contact with her.

I'm 16. No she had no rights too. Not even my parents hit me. So for her to hit me, that was uncalled for. I actually don't feel respect for her at this moment, none.
