Why do you think sometimes people get judged more for buying a pet and not taking care of it well than having a kid and being a shit parent?

To me they're both bad but it seems like people make excuses for parents way more than for pet owners. Oh you know life is hard everybody just does what they can. No fuck that.

Yesterday a friend told me her mom said she might kill herself next week. To me that's insane. And then I talked about it with someone else and she said oh yeah my dad does that too.

I'm like wtf?

If life is difficult for you and you have a lot on your plate then don't have children. It's that simple. There are no excuses for taking your problems out on your child, emotionally manipulating them, traumatizing them, none of it!

I think it's unbelievable that we still live in a world where things like this happen to children or young adults. I don't know how fucked in the head you have to be to do that to someone that is kind of defenseless against you. Yes you can cut your parents off when you grow up at some point but it is the most difficult relationship to set boundaries and to end completely.

It just makes me sad and disgusted.

Historical Perspective:We, Homo Sapiens, are running around since 300.000 years it seems. We, Homo Sapiens, were enjoying cut off heads put on a pike, around 300 years ago, a common spectacle for kids and adults alike. We, Homo Sapiens, have started to ban the use of corporal punishment against children, since 30 years. Only for a few countries around the world.

According to this perspective, the concept of emotional well-being is a totally new idea, it started to be considered some seconds ago, in the great scheme of things. That concept is still far, very far from being recognized around the world, for kids, for adults, for anyone. We have, barely, started to care about emotional well-being. It's a brand new idea, and it's not even really trending that much.

As far as I can see, Mother Nature doesn't seem to care about emotional welfare of any being on earth anyway. It doesn't seem to be the initial plan, the plan seems to be just about having babies, many babies? On top of that traditional reproduction, we made up rules, laws, earthly laws or, supposedly, from heavens. For some reason, we, Homo Sapiens, have been given the potential to empathize beyond our family unit, beyond the radius of our own babies, beyond the radius of our own species.

It's an interesting capacity, what are we, Homo Sapiens, going to do with it? 😏

because we're all just like that...

we all have it so easy to judge others on what they do wrong and their mistakes, because we're not living in those circumstances so we don't understand them directly, so we just take the short route and judge them...

many times we don't see the whole picture so we miss out on that as well, and that's just our human nature... we just have it easier to judge others on what they do or won't do and so we do it

if it were so easy to stop doing wrong and making mistakes, then it would not keep happening, but.. it is never that simple, lol

now, in this case... it just might be much more obvious when a pet is not being taken care of and for other people to see that, than... when a child is being not taken care of

What the hell is a child supposed to do with that information when your parent tells you that they are going to kill themselves?
First it scares the holy crap out of the child because they know without their Mom or Dad dead, that means they are going to be all alone in this world and then what are they supposed to do?

If a parent tells their child they are going to kill themselves, the child should call 911 and have the parent taken to a psych ward and be evaluated and get them the help they need; instead of terrifying the child half to death.

And if someone is abusing a defenseless animal then someone needs to call the police and the person should get in trouble for animal abuse which is against the law. Then the animal should be taken care of by the animal shelter until it gets adopted.

I almost have to wonder 🤔 if the people we are referring to are the unhinged Democrats that can't handle that Trump is going to be our next president?

You don't huh? How would you like to be a little kid and your only caregiver in life kills themselves? They would need the police to contact a social services representative to find the child a place to live.

Taking care of a kid is radically different then taking care of a pet. Some people try to use pets as a “replacement” for kids but their not.

Not to say there is anything wrong with being a pet owner. But being a parent is a life change for responsible people.

Anyway I believe most parents really love their kids but parents are human themselves. They will make mistakes.

This is coming from a person who was raised by an abusive mother by the way. I got some major issues with my mom. However I will always love and respect her bringing me into this world, raising me and giving me a chance at life.

In nature a difficult life is expected. If only people with easy lives were allowed to breed, you would see our species go extinct.

Also, you can be very well prepped for a child, and still fall on hard times later on.

No lifeplan is foolproof.

Some people just shouldn't have kids. You see junkies get locked up all the time and they always have 2 or 3 kids. The world is a tough place sometimes.
