Was it wrong to call animal control?

The other day, my boyfriend and I went to visit his dad. While on the phone with my mom, I noticed my father-in-law's girlfriend's dog had broken off its runner and was running around the car. I had encountered the dog before without any issues, so I tried to help untangle its leash from my car tires. As I turned to walk away, the dog bit my back. I screamed and ran to get my boyfriend, who wrestled the dog and tied it back up. I filed a police report and contacted animal control, as the owner showed little concern and tried to blame me.

A few days later, my boyfriend went to get something from the shed on his dad's property. The dog, tied up near the shed, attacked him, biting his arm. He had to wrestle the dog and use a metal bar to get it to release. I called Animal Control again to update them. The dog was supposed to be in a 10-day quarantine but wasn't properly isolated. Now, my boyfriend, his dad, and his dad's girlfriend are upset with me, blaming me for the drama. I just wanted to protect everyone and ensure the dog was handled responsibly.
