Is it okay to kill animals, for man?

My boyfriend have killed several animals before cats, squirrels, deer's, anything but that was before me. Yesterday he told me that he killed a bird with a blow gun that he gave to his brother which is following his steps about killing stuff. The bird did not died so he chopped his head off. I am okay with if he did eat it but he did not so he just killed for pleasure and fun. Also he is not starving and can go to Walmart so he does not need to kill for it. If he wants practice shooting he could aim not live animals but I think he enjoys killing and even worked in a farm killing sick chickens before. All his friend thinks that is normal his family thinks that is normal but for me there is no necessity to kill so killing is just for fun.

I was not there now, so I am not sure about the motivation, but it does look like they just wanted to get something alive. He says that this bird in the picture is like a pest, but he says the same thing about any other animal like squirrels, skunks, but principally raccoon. I am foreign, and I do not have this culture of killing, but it is weird because, as I said, his parents think it is the same usual thing as hunting. I did said he will have to pay it with God later

Ok, many people here saying he could be a serial killer but his; society accepts it. His family taught him, his friends also nobody ever told him it was bad behavior, and now he enjoys it. I don't think he could develop for humans since he knows that humans have morals and rights, but nobody told him it was terrible to hurt an animal. So, isn't that a behavior that was learned? As I said he is not alone there is a whole culture of it are they all future murders?

Humans as a species don't care about hurting animals. Just there is a moral structure to how we don't treat some animals. Which tends to be hypocritical. So if he was never taught a hypocritical moral structure he is not in the wrong here. Gonna look awful to anyone who has been taught the Hypocritical moral structure.

And proof for it been Hypocritical well here is just one pure example.
Cannot kill and eat a horse but cow it's fine? cannot eat a dog but a pig it's fine?
Killing cannot be done in pleasure, but eating a dead thing can be done in pleasure?

I am not a vegan, nor would i argue a good point for them since they still do tons of things that hurt animals like use a road to drive there car down. And have been taught this hypocritical system but i don't pretend it's not hypocritical.
Myself i would eat any animal or kill any but cats, i really like cats also spiders and maybe some more creatures. So that's messed up to me that he did. Which also cats kill birds all the time not for food but pleasure.
And yes were different to animals but take away are moral teachings and society interactions we would be probably not that different.

So honestly it's hard question to answer. All i know is i wouldn't want to be near people who are doing that nor like them.

Many people enjoy hunting and there's nothing wrong with that. Like many others are saying, if someone ended up utilizing some of the parts (even for mounted trophies) or if you're eliminating what you consider a pest, there is no issue. My grandparents would eat squirrels and deer but they grew up in the great depression. I don't know about cats but many Asians eat dogs. If he didn't have someone utilize these corpses and merely killed on a whim then those comments that are suggesting he's a serial killer might be more relevant than you'd think.

Killing an animal for legitimate need is a valid reason. Killing it for fun is not. I fish for my dinner several days a week. Once dinner is caught I take it home and that's my protein for the day. If I have more than I need then I give some to my neighbors. Right now there is a sheepshead filet in my refrigerator which will be made into fish chowder for dinner tonight.

I don’t see any issue with hunting for meat, killing pest animals that damage your property, killing animals that threaten your life, or experimenting on animals for the medical benefit of humans and then putting them down to dispose of them if necessary. Thrill kills don’t fit in with my principles.

Back in my dads childhood it was a fun time shooting pigeons in the yards with an air rifle.
I think that instinct lives deeply inside anyone of us. Who hasn't hunted down ants with a magnifying glass. Everyone, who doesn't have too much of empathy or moral dogma restraining you, will find some kind of fun in hunting and being superior. Its like an old predatory instinct

@update I think it's indicative of how boring and void of high society the American midwest is. Many people in the midwest just eat and drink and grow incredibly obese because that is all they can think of doing. I once read a story of some kids in Ohio who dropped a rock onto cars driving underneath them. One rock slammed through the car and permanently injured the woman in the passenger seat. The husband of incurably depressed from the accident and having his wife mentally handicapped and took his own life.
