A father crying at his daughter's wedding, how common is that, is it really sad?

Well my cousin got married last year. Even though it was non-religious (as neither are religious), the party was still just as beautiful and creative.

Since there was no altar, it was at a vineyard with views of the beach. At some point my uncle got emotional and broke down. I've never seen him crying before. He started recalling the time he held her as a newborn (their 3rd, last child and the only daughter), her first cries, her first laughter, the times he would squeeze her cheeks, the first steps, her first word being dada and that now she's leaving. He kept mentioning how it all seemed like yesterday. He seemed more emotional than my aunt.

Wow he literally broke down. How common is that?
