How would you feel if you found out one of your parents isn’t your biological parent?

I didn’t know how else to word this question. While I was dating my ex (the one I was with for years) we talked about some of everything and I remember I casually said to him that I don’t think his dad is actually his dad. I’ve mentioned a few times throughout the years in conversation. Well, he called me crying and I haven’t talked to him in a while so I knew it had to be something serious. His dad told him the truth that he is not his real father. He refuses to ask his mom about it but he’s really hurt about it and I feel bad for him. I’m tempted to tell his mother that he knows the truth and she should reach out to him. It’s really not my place at all considering I haven’t spoken to her in 3 years but he’s not gonna reach out to her… it would benefit him if he did. I’ve never seen him this bad.
his mom and dad have 8 children together (excluding him). He’s almost 30 years old and his dad just told him… after all these years.

What would his last name be? Or what if he has other siblings? Does he look like his dad? While I think these are things he should know, I don’t think it’s a good idea to try to connect with him.
