How many of you here ever dealt with sibling rivalry?

Care to share what your situation is like? I really envy those folks who have never had problems with their siblings, and have normal relationships.

In my situation I don’t even know if it’s sibling rivalry, or just not getting along with the personality of another sibling who is 2 years older than me. It’s an issue I’ve had my entire life. She is never wrong, or so she believes, and never apologizes for her behavior, never acknowledges anything she’s done wrong. She’s in a high horse and always thinks she’s right. A teacher once called her arrogant. Hmmm.

My sister, and only sibling, is 8 years older than me. She didn't like it when I was born, no longer the "only child", and let me know that over and over as we both got older. She often told me that I was the lucky one, generally doing well in life, while she struggled with medical issues and economically. We were never that close, especially when she and her husband moved far away.

In her later years, we got a little closer, but there was always a bit of rivalry by her.

She died a few years ago. Fortunately, I got to see her on her death bed, hours before she died.

we had our fights here and there, as children... but no long standing drama

You are very lucky! I only have trouble with one sibling who is always competitive, gossipy about everyone else, manipulative and petty. She comes across as intimidating. Pretends to be everything else but.

This isn't a sibling rivalry unless you want to be more arrogant than her. Lol. Your describing just not liking your sibling die to her arrogant personality.

Right. I do not have the rivalry. It seems she has it. I mentioned that in my question, that it may not be rivalry but more like her personality. I’m not arrogant at all; for example I know when I am wrong and will admit a mistake. She has never admitted to being wrong and will find a way to blame someone or something else. Never apologizes for her behavior which can be nasty and intimidating.
