Was I wrong to decline meeting his baby?

(31F) have been seeing this guy (35M) for 3 months. He has a son who turns 1 next month. There were a lot of red flags in the beginning, mainly because I think he was deciding if he wanted to take me seriously (honestly he was acting like a grown f*** boy). For example, would not take me out would only come to my place, would post me on his IG story but only if he made his page private first, and would love bomb me with stuff like talking about eloping if we accidentally got pregnant. He even told me he wanted me to go to his son’s birthday party but the baby mother said no. In the past week I feel he’s been more intentional. He let me in on his co-parenting situation after I told him it bothered me that I don’t know if when he leaves me he’s living a double life with his son’s mom (he was acting very sketchy and treating me like a side piece). So he had his son last night and invited me over. I thought it was too soon for me to meet his son even though he’s just a baby but I didn’t want to say that because he’s finally letting me in and I didn’t want him to have an excuse to pull back.

So I get to his house last night and his son was asleep in his room and we watched movies in the living room. He eventually asked me if I wanted to see the baby and I said, “no let him sleep.” Then he asked again about an hour later and I told him it might be a good idea if I met the mom first because she probably wants to know who’s around her baby. He concluded that I just wasn’t good with kids but I don’t think that’s true (I’m never really around kids so who knows).

My question is, was I wrong to not want to go into the room with the baby? I don’t want him to pull away after we’ve made progress
