My best guy friend is feeling sad and he’s sulking, because when we went to a Valentine’s Day dance together, despite his best efforts, no one was interested in dating him and no one approached him, except his friends, to hang out.
He texted me two nights ago, telling me he’s turning off his text message notifications, temporarily.
The thing is, he continuously has no luck, because he hits on women young enough to be his daughter and women much more attractive than himself and while he’s a lovely guy and an awesome best mate, he’s fat and unattractive.
If he lost weight, he’d be attractive, but he expects people to appreciate his inner beauty; as do my other unattractive friends about theirs and that’s not how the world works. He’s a compulsive eater, so he isn’t willing to address his issues. I can’t tell him this, though.
The question is, how do I cheer him up when he comes back? Should I organise a friend group bbq or a fancy lunch somewhere with a friend group of us?
